Knowing With Certainty

1. Many had committed themselves to the compiling of the story and works of Jesus from while He was on earth. (v. 1)
2. Personal witnesses of, and ministers of the Gospel handed down these accounts to Luke and others. (v. 2)
3. Luke had observed others undertaking the task to record this account and pass it around. And since Luke followed everything carefully himself, he decided also to compile an orderly account of Jesus' life and ministry. (v. 3)
4. Luke is writing this to Theophilus. (v. 3)
5. Luke thought it important for Theophilus to know with certainty the things he had heard about Jesus. (v. 4)
