It’s time to register for Sunday School once again! Sunday school classes are open to everyone, approximately 12 years old or older, regardless of membership at The Field Church. Below, you’ll find a list of the classes offered for Session 4, which begins Sunday, March 8, and goes to Sunday, April 19. All classes begin at 8:30 am and end at 9:30.
Creation and Foundations: Understanding Genesis 1-11 and Its Role in Scripture; Part 2 (Pastor Mike Linstead)
Join Pastor Mike to explore Genesis 1–11, the foundational chapters of the Bible that shape the entire story of Scripture. Together we will study creation, the fall, the flood, and the tower of Babel, examining what these passages reveal about God’s character, humanity’s purpose, sin, judgment, and grace. The class will also consider how these early chapters inform the rest of the biblical narrative—from God’s covenant promises to the gospel itself. Through careful study and discussion, participants will gain a deeper understanding of why Genesis 1–11 matters for faith, theology, and daily Christian living.
Participation in Part 1 is NOT required to register for this class.
The Pilgrim’s Progress (Pastor Josh Miller)
Join Pastor Josh for a rich and engaging journey through The Pilgrim’s Progress, John Bunyan’s timeless Christian classic. Written as an allegory of the Christian life, this beloved work follows Christian as he travels from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City, facing trials, temptations, doubts, and victories along the way.
In this class, we will explore the biblical truths behind Bunyan’s vivid characters and settings, connecting them to Scripture and everyday Christian experience. Together, we’ll reflect on themes such as salvation, perseverance, faith, suffering, assurance, and God’s sustaining grace. Whether you are reading The Pilgrim’s Progress for the first time or returning to it again, this study will encourage and strengthen your walk with Christ as we consider what it means to live as pilgrims in this world, pressing on toward our heavenly home.
Required text: The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan (purchase here)
Membership Class (Bo Whittemore)
Are you considering membership at The Field Church? This class is designed to help believers understand what it means to belong to a local church according to Scripture. We will explore the gospel, the mission of the church, and the biblical foundations of church membership, leadership, ordinances, and discipleship. Participants will learn the church’s beliefs, values, and expectations, while considering how God calls every member to live, serve, and grow in the body of Christ. This class is ideal for those seeking membership as well as current members desiring a deeper understanding of biblical commitment to the local church.
Required texts for Membership Class:
Three Hallmarks of a Biblical Church Member by Tom Pennington (purchase here)
The Master’s Plan for the Church by John MacArthur (purchase here)
The Constitution & Bylaws of The Field Church (hard copy provided in class)
Created Whole: A Biblical Doctrine of the Body (Pastor Chad Wiles)
This class explores the Bible’s teaching that humans are a unified whole—body and soul together. We’ll examine key views of human nature, consider how the Fall affects both our inner and outer lives, and see why suffering and trauma are embodied experiences. Above all, we’ll ground our hope for healing in the redemptive work of Christ, who restores the whole person.
